“When the moon hits your eye like a pizza pie, that’s armore…” On day 6, we traveled to the continent of Europe, although we have yet to travel to this distant land in person. We have enjoyed many types of cuisine Europe has to offer over the years. We focused, primarily, on the country of Italia (or Italy). Our meal consisted of a lovely caprese salad (with home-grown basil and tomatoes from our garden), handmade cheese ravioli with a light maranara glaze, fresh-baked french bread, Blood-orange Italian soda and Chocolate Gelato for desert. “Molto Delizioso!”
To quote a very patriotic movie, brought to you by the makers of South Park;”AMERICA….F&CK YEAH!!!!” For the North American continent, we have chosen the land of the free…the home of the brave..the good ol’U.S. of A.’ We dined on the classic chili cheese dog, washed it down with a classic Coca-Cola (from a glass bottle none-the-less) followed by the only desert that is going to make it though a nuclear apocalypse and possibly last longer the the cockroach; the one, the only……. Twinkie!!!! God Bless America with it’s quick to prepare meals and high calorie-count. I have got to say, day 5 was a great day.
Today we take a trip down to the ‘other’ America, which is due south of “our” America also known as South America. We are excited to say that we put a lot of effort into this one. We made homemade Chilean Dobladitas (which is basically like homemade rolls) and Pork Cutlets Empanizado with Mango-Rum Chutney. This meal took us over 2.5 hours to create from start to end, and it was probably one of the most delectable that we have had. Pictures don’t do this one justice. I’ll definitely make this again.
How come all of the continents start with the letter “A” excpet Europe?
“In the jungle the might jungle the lion sleeps tonight…in the the jungle the might jungle the lion sleeps tonight…oh weeeeeee…ahhhh eeeeeee ohhhhh uhm uhhwaaay” Well our third continent has come and gone. We visited Africa, where the Lion King plays in the tall desert grass. We enjoyed a lovely Moroccan Tagine on a bed of cous cous and Cinnamon Oranges for dessert. Our tagine consisted of butternut squash, carrots, chicken, garbanzo beans, tomatoes and yummy spices. It was mighty good eatin’
For nearly a decade, Sweeney Todd sliced and diced his way to culinary fame (and serial killer status) by turning his unsuspecting clientele into delectable meat pies. With this as our inspiration, we now travel ‘down under’ for our own version of Sweeney Todds World Famous Pies. This meat pie could be consired the national food for those crazy beer swindling Aussies and through flavor “country,” we join them in their outback adventures!!!
So, Jake and I are really excited to announce our SECOND HONEYMOON!!! We have decided that we would like to have a honeymoon every year; meaning that we will go on a trip (just the two of us) and not bring any work or distractions with us, as well as doing something we have never done before. Our first honeymoon to Kauai, HI was pretty darn amazing, and we decided that one honeymoon just is not enough. So anyways, we booked a trip for early 2012 to captain a 40-foot kiel boat (yes i mean “CAPTAIN”) not just sitting around on our butts drinking rum and coke’s while 100′s of other people do the same on a large yacht. Well, actually it will be me and jake and a real skipper (as that is the official term for the captain of a crew less than 7). So anyways, we are taking a trip to southern Florida and sailing/living on a boat for 5 days out in the ocean (never coming to land). The trip will include tons of snorkeling, deep sea fishing, and learning how to navigate the waters of the Atlantic.
This weekend we took a trip to good ol’ Longmont, CO with some good friends to use them for their sailboat that they have recently acquired. Jake was all into it, since he has already started studying up for the big trip (we have to pass a course before we are set free on the water). Unfortunately we didn’t have the best conditions for sailing as there was almost no wind, but we did both get a chance to get out there and experience it — twas really really fun, needless to say, and we can’t wait to do it again.
Life has been mad busy for myself over the past few weeks. I’ve been working double-time and school has gotten pretty intense the past few weeks before finals next week, so I haven’t had much life to talk about unfortunately. Hopefully things will simmer next week and go back to normal (or at least less nutty). Will write more when we have more to tell. Hugs and Kisses!
