Rock and Rollin’

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Music / 29 Mar, 2011

We played an awesome show on sunday (3/27) at the Lion’s Lair as “The Marco Polos” which is our offshoot “duo” of the Firebird 4000 Project, with guest drummer Matt Montemore (also part of FB4K). Just like any show at a danky dive bar, the Urinal Trough was filled with ice to keep down the smell and the stage was ever-creaking, threatening to break at any moment. The transient-filled bar got to enjoy a showcase of singer-songwriter performances from our friends, “Matt & Emily,” (not to be confused with our guest drummer Matt) Dave Hibbard and Elyse Miller from Fort Collins…and of course the Marco Polos. Despite the poor turnout we had a really great time hanging out with our friends, playing music to each other and drinking free beer on a Sunday night.

We have another show (as FB4K) tomorrow at the Meadowlark (in Denver) which we are looking forward to, as we get to put on a rock performance and strut around in a somewhat more appealing part of town. Our friends, Wizard Boots (from Portland), are going to be joining us and we are super excited to hang with them. They are starting their national tour in Denver, and we are looking forward to seeing their most excellent performance. As you may know, we got married in Portland last May, and we were privileged enough to see these guys in their native home. I’m sure it will be a night to remember.

This sunday we are playing at an old opera house in Longmont called the Dickens Opera House, which should be a really amazing experience. The setting is amazing and hopefully we will walk away with some hot band photos we can post all around the net for everyone to enjoy. Until then…we will keep on rockin’

Howdy folks,

JIll has been a super slacker when it comes to blogging (that doesn’t seem like a real word)…so I am going to take over this operation with what will likely be daily messages about all things Jake and Jill. Moo-ha-ha, I am crazy with power! You can expect to read about how solid or loose my stool was every morning……just kidding. Also, I will be putting up mucho pics for all those fans that think I’m a super dream boat. That leads into tonight…… Jilly and I are going to play a show tonight in Denver at a lil’ joint called “Lions Lair,” one of the coziest spots in all of the Denver-Metro area. We’ll are playing songs from our side project “The Marco Polo’s” and have a friend (Matt) doing percussion for us. Please note this has nothing to do with our band “FB4K” or “The Firebird 4000 Project. But, there is much to come from FB4K, including more shows then you can shake a stick at and a new record. “Trinidad” is the name of what will be our latest creation more to come on that later…our first mixing session is April 6th. Ok, everyone have the best night of your lives!!!
